Gouka Lodge is a western-style house consisting of four bedrooms, each of which can be configured as 2 singles beds or 1 king size bed. There are three bathrooms, one of which is en-suite.

See the interactive Virtual Tour for more pictures.

Location

The location of Gouka Lodge is regarded by many who know Niseko as one of the best locations in the village. The frequent shuttle bus (usually every 5-7 minutes in the morning) is a flat 50m walk from the front door of Gouka Lodge (bus stop #5) and takes just 7 minutes to reach the gondola. At night, the lower village around Gouka Lodge is peaceful and quiet – in stark contrast to the rowdy upper village which can get quite noisy with late-night revellers making their way home each night.

Gouka Lodge has great views of Yotei-san – that is when it’s not snowing, which it tends to do alot of the time in Niseko!  Either way, sun or snow, every day is fantastic in Niseko.

Downstairs

The ground floor level consists of a “genkan” or entry way off the huge front door. The genkan has a heated stone floor so that your gear will always be toasty-warm in the morning when you put it on.  The genkan has plenty of storage space for skis, boards and clothing and is large enough for everyone to get ready.

Off the genkan is the lounge with an ‘instant on’ fireplace and sofas for relaxing or watching a movie on the 42’ flat-screen TV and Bose entertainment system.

The kitchen is a gourmet delight with everything you would expect from home including a gas stovetop, electric oven, rice cooker, double refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and all of the cooking utensils needed to make a complete feast after another one of those famous Niseko powder days.

A massive dining table is at the heart of Gouka Lodge that will seat up to 10 people in comfort and will be the place where guests spend many hours recounting their days on the mountain.

The downstairs is completed by a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and shower which also opens to the lounge.

Upstairs

There are three double bedrooms upstairs, with the master bedroom having its own en-suite bathroom with large shower.

The two other bedrooms share a large bathroom with a bathtub to soak away those sore legs in preparation for tomorrow.  All bathrooms have heated towel rails and western-style facilities.

All bedrooms may be configured either as two single beds or one king size bed.  The beds in Gouka Lodge have been specially selected for comfort and all are pillow top for a luxurious rest.  Both standard foam pillows and chiropractic contoured memory-foam pillows are supplied because we realise how important a good night’s sleep is.

Gouka Lodge has central heating to ensure that everyone is comfortable and cozy at all times.

The lodge has wireless broadband internet and a telephone for local calls. International calling cards are widely available which will allow you to use the telephone for calling home.

The entertainment system has a cable for connecting your iPod or other media player through the Bose surround sound system.

Remember, the Japanese electrical system is 110v (same plug as North America) and any chargers or electrical equipment must be certified to operate on this voltage (most mobile phone chargers are, but please check before using).  Gouka Lodge has several adapter plugs to convert Australian-style plugs to Japanese-style sockets.

Also, be aware that Japan mobile phone networks are primarily 3G and normal Australian GSM handsets will not operate.  Check with your mobile carrier before arriving. Mobile phones may be rented in major Japanese airports (e.g. Narita) and shops often sell pre-paid mobile phones for under $100 AUD.
